Booking and Submitting your application

Booking

  • Where to book
Where to book your application, depending on the type of research.

  • Local Allocation System (LAS)
A LAS is a telephone booking service which allocates applications to a suitable agenda slot within a local group of Research Ethics Committees.
  • Central Allocation System (CAS)
CAS identifies and allocates applications to an appropriate Research Ethics Committee for research that falls into specific categories.

  • Research Ethics Committee meeting dates  for all RECs in the United Kingdom.

All RECs will require the submission of your complete application well in advance of the meeting date (normally 14 days before) and certainly within four working days of your application booking being accepted, in order to secure your agenda slot.  You will, therefore, be given a submission date for your application when you book your application.

Submitting your application

  • You must submit your Research Ethics Committee (REC) application form and other supporting documentation, as outlined on the check-list, to the REC that will undertake the ethical review, by the deadline you were given at the time of booking the agenda slot.

  • The exact date will be confirmed at the time of the telephone booking and will usually be confirmed by email.
