For applicants

Contact details
  • Find your local Research Ethics Committee (REC)
You can find the contact details for all UK RECs in the NRES Committee Directory section.

Application process
  • Questions about the application process
Our FAQs provide answers to common queries. Use the NRES Committee Directory to find a REC to help you relate the procedures to your study.
If you have any remaining questions, you should email nres.queries@nhs.net.

When submitting an enquiry, if you have received advice on the same or a similar matter from a different source (for example directly from a Research Ethics Committee (REC) or from an NHS R&D department), it would be helpful if you could share the initial query and response received if then seeking additional advice through the NRES Queries service.

You can send general enquiries or comments about IRAS to iras.queries@nhs.net.

  • Local Allocation System (LAS)
