Research summary
Vitamin D levels are low in many older people in Scotland, and low vitamin D levels have been linked with high blood pressure. This study will test whether vitamin D supplementation can reduce blood pressure and improve markers of blood vessel health (arterial stiffness, endothelial function and blood markers of cardiovascular health) in patients with isolated systolic hypertension - the commonest type of high blood pressure in older people.
